Solo exhibition “At Your Service” at the Forum of the Findeisen Foundation
Sala Lieber tackles even serious topics with humor and a touch of irony. The paintings in her current series, titled “At Your Service,” address hierarchies in the workplace. The work “Triptych” provocatively contrasts a small-scale master of the house with rows of his larger-than-life servants. In the painting “The Gardener Has Fallen Down,” the viewer takes a cynically erotic glimpse out the window at a naked gardener at work. The works explore the interplay of power and hierarchies, but not solely in the traditional sense. Certainly, managing property would be impossible without the labor of servants. This raises the question: Who is dependent on whom?
On November 9, 2019, Sala Lieber's major solo exhibition "At Your Service" opened in Cologne.
The opening speech was given by Susanne Laugwitz-Aulbach, Head of Cultural Affairs for the City of Cologne, Department VII – Art and Culture, and Nikolaus Zumbusch, Spokesperson of the Britta and Ulrich Findeisen Foundation for Art and Architecture.
