The Great Brockhaus – Limited Artist Edition
The classic as a limited artist's edition: The Great Brockhaus Encyclopedia – The Encyclopedia in One Volume, with its over 70,000 entries, provides quick access to the fundamental knowledge of our time: meticulously researched, verified, and presented concisely in precise articles. Up-to-date, modern, and featuring approximately 1,000 graphics, maps, and tables for a vivid and engaging overview. The cover of this edition was designed by the painter Sala Lieber. The edition is limited to 250 copies. All copies are hand-signed. The artwork is based on the painting "Anna Amalia Library 1," oil on canvas, 250 cm x 110 cm, from 2012.
“Lieber had seen photos of the Weimar library, which was almost completely destroyed in a major fire in 2004, and subsequently wanted to reconstruct this shrine of classical culture and education in her painting. Destruction as the initial spark. As in all her works, Sala Lieber combines the real and the fantastic in her painting “Anna Amalia Library”: “Knowledge is not a dull web of bookshelves, but an inspiring world of experience with the potential for liberation and transcendence,” she says. “By arriving in this world, we also arrive at ourselves.”
