Solo exhibition “At Your Service” at the Forum of the Findeisen Foundation
Sala Lieber addresses even serious topics with a great deal of humor and a touch of irony. The paintings in her current series, titled “At Your Service,” deal with hierarchies in the working world. The work “Triptych” shows a small-format master of the house in provocative contrast between the rows of his oversized painted servants. In the picture “The Gardener Has Fallen Down,” the viewer casts a cynical-erotic gaze from the window onto a naked working gardener. On the one hand, it is about playing with power and hierarchies, but not only in the traditional sense. Certainly, the management of property would not be possible without the services of servants. So the question arises: Who is dependent on whom?
On November 9, 2019, Sala Lieber’s major solo exhibition “At Your Service” opened in Cologne.
The opening speeches were given by Susanne Laugwitz-Aulbach, Head of the Cultural Department of the City of Cologne, Department VII – Art and Culture, and Nikolaus Zumbusch, Speaker of the Foundation for Art and Architecture Britta and Ulrich Findeisen.
