The works \u201cThe Net\u201d (2004, oil on canvas, 140 x 160 cm) and \u201cSelf-Portrait\u201d (2000, oil on canvas, 85 x 110 cm) date from my studies in Dresden and D\u00fcsseldorf. In my self-portrait, created in Dresden, the influence of my role models at the time, Oskar Kokoschka, Siegfried Klotz, and Bernard Heisig, is clearly evident. For the first three semesters in Dresden, I studied under Professor Siegfried Klotz, with whom I share a deep respect, both artistically and personally. My professor Elke Hoppfe was also a wonderful teacher and a fantastic artist.<\/p>\n

In D\u00fcsseldorf, I found my own artistic language best understood and guided by Professor Herbert Brandel. The painting \u201cThe Net\u201d was created during this time. The painting depicts people trapped in a large net. They are trying to expand this net and escape it. The painting illustrates our own imprisonment within our systems, which we may expand somewhat, but from which we cannot escape.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Die Arbeiten “Das Netz” (2004, \u00d6l auf Leinwand, 140 x 160 cm) und “Selbstportrait” (2000, \u00d6l auf Leinwand, 85 x 110 cm) stammen aus meiner Studienzeit in Dresden und D\u00fcsseldorf. Bei meinem Selbstportrait, das in Dresden entstand, erkennt man klar den Einfluss meiner damaligen Vorbilder Oskar Kokoschka, Siegfried Klotz und Bernard Heisig. Die ersten drei Semester in Dresden studierte ich bei Professor Siegfried Klotz, mit dem mich sowohl k\u00fcnstlerisch wie auch menschlich eine tiefe Anerkennung verbindet. Meine Professorin Elke Hoppfe war ebenfalls eine wunderbare P\u00e4dagogin und tolle K\u00fcnstlerin.     In D\u00fcsseldorf fand ich meine eigene k\u00fcnstlerische Sprache bei Professor Herbert Brandel am Besten verstanden und begleitet. Das Bild “Das Netz” entstand in dieser Zeit. Das Bild zeigt Menschen in einem gro\u00dfen Netz gefangen. Sie versuchen dieses Netz auszudehnen und ihm zu entkommen.
