In the S\u00fcddeutsche Zeitung on Friday, April 12, 2024, a nice article appeared mentioning Sala Lieber's bar scenes by the author Simone Buchholz.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:<\/p>\n

\u201c(\u2026)Yes, I really like Hopper\u2019s paintings; I\u2019m one of the Nighthawks from the famous picture myself. But recently Edward Hopper has some competition. I\u2019ve discovered a contemporary artist who paints captivating bar scenes, full of light, life, and color. What\u2019s fascinating about these darkly luminous paintings\u2014watch out!\u2014of naked, mermaid-like barmaids with glowing red updos, which they wear as if they were crowns, is the dignity of the people working there. Customers don\u2019t appear; they simply don\u2019t matter. The paintings don\u2019t depict the moment just before the bar opens; on the contrary, the night seems to be already in full swing, but it belongs entirely to those who take care of the drinks, sometimes together with a second barmaid or a modestly dressed barman. They are all self-sufficient. My favorite painting by Sala Lieber is Zoe (2021), which shows the stunning backside of a naked barmaid in front of a packed bar.\u201d A shelf of colorful bottles and glittering glasses, and her gaze from the picture says: \"You'd like to be here, wouldn't you? But this is my place.\" One night, I'd still like to quietly knock on the door, hoping Zoe will let her former colleague in.<\/p>\n

In der S\u00fcddeutschen Zeitung erschien am Freitag, den 12.04.2024, ein sch\u00f6ner Artikel mit Erw\u00e4hnung von Sala Liebers Barszenen von der Autorin Simone Buchholz. Auszug: “(…)Ja, ich mag die Hopper-Gem\u00e4lde sehr, ich bin selbst einer der Nighthawks aus dem ber\u00fchmten Bild. Neuerdings bekommt Edward Hopper aber Konkurrenz, ich habe eine zeitgen\u00f6ssische K\u00fcnstlerin entdeckt, die ber\u00fcckende Barszenen malt, voller Licht und Leben und Farben. Das Faszinierende an den dunkel leuchtenden Bildern – Achtung! – nackter, meerjungfrauenartiger Barfrau-en mit gl\u00fchend roten Hoch-steckfrisuren, die sie tragen, als w\u00e4ren sie Kronen, ist die W\u00fcrde der arbeitenden Menschen. G\u00e4ste tauchen n\u00e4mlich nicht auf, sie spielen schlicht keine Rolle. Die Bilder zeigen nicht etwa den Moment kurz bevor die Bar \u00f6ffnet, im Gegenteil, die Nacht scheint schon in vollem Gange zu sein, aber sie geh\u00f6rt ganz allein jenen, die sich um die Drinks k\u00fcmmern, auch mal gemeinsam mit einer zweiten Barfrau oder einem versch\u00e4mt bekleideten Barmann. Sie sind sich alle selbst genug.
